Africa, shaped by experience and vision.

My passion for the African bush began in childhood, shaped by countless visits to Kruger National Park and time spent with my grandparents. They taught me to read the landscape and fostered my lifelong connection to the wild. Today, I am based in Hoedspruit, South Africa, and after years working as an accredited FGASA field and trails guide across reserves including Madikwe, the Klaserie and the Timbavati, my heart remains firmly in the Kruger, whose landscapes, wildlife and roads I know intimately.

Years spent immersed in the wilderness have taught me to appreciate the subtle details that give a place its character: the changing seasons, the rhythm of the landscape and the individuality of the animals within it. Photography became a natural extension of this way of observing, giving me a means to preserve fleeting encounters and translate experiences that might otherwise exist only as memories. It has become a way of sharing not simply what I see, but how I experience the African wilderness.

My background as a guide directly informs my photographic approach. Understanding animal behaviour allows me to anticipate movement and fleeting moments, positioning myself for the strongest image. Patience, timing and an instinct for dramatic light are central to my process, helping me create works that feel intentional without compromising the spontaneity of the moment. This balance between preparation and unpredictability is fundamental to how I approach wildlife photography.

Visually, my work is rooted in a muted, atmospheric interpretation of Africa, with an emphasis on mood and visual storytelling rather than conventional wildlife photography. I approach each image with an art-directorial eye, carefully considering light, composition, colour, space and atmosphere. I am drawn to the moments between the obvious ones: subtle expressions, restrained light, negative space and fleeting interactions, while increasingly exploring the relationship between wildlife and the landscapes they inhabit.

Ultimately, my goal is to create fine-art imagery that evokes a deep sense of awe and connection to the natural world. I want my photographs to bring a sense of presence, calm and pride into a collector's interior space, creating works that remain meaningful long after the moment they depict has passed. A print matters when it sparks joy, creates connection and inspires lasting wonder. Through every frame, I strive to preserve not just an image, but something of the enduring spirit of the wild.
